The magic of white winter

A few kilometers from Lake Garda, an escape on the snow on the peaks of Alpe Cimbra.

Alpe Cimbra in Trentino, with the well-known towns of Folgaria, Lavarone and Lusern, is a land rich in authentic traditions.

It can be easily reached by car from Lake Garda, in just under an hour and a half by road, passing from the mild and sleepy winter atmosphere of the lake to an enchanting landscape of woods, alpine villages with characteristic mountain traditional architecture.

The green color of the lake gives way to expanses of white snow.

The proximity to the lake makes these places an ideal destination for short day trips.

We love to plan the trip on the snow, usually on Saturdays, to have plenty of time to reach Folgaria, without haste, perhaps with a short break along the way for a traditional breakfast with cappuccino and croissant and reach Passo Coe.

Passo Coe (1,610 m asl) is an alpine pass of the Venetian Pre-Alps of great beauty characterized by a wide plateau, always exposed to the sun, just 6 km from the historic center of Folgaria. It is a must in winter for all mountain, snow, winter sports, walking and relaxation enthusiasts.

Ideal for families with children, for lovers of cross-country skiing, for Nordic skiing and alpine skiing, for snowshoeing or walking in the snow, the Alpe Cimbra area always offers unforgettable days.

There are many connections for downhill skiing with the possibility of perfecting the technique or learning to ski thanks to the numerous ski and snowboard schools in the area, many school camps for children and beginners, baby park and, very interesting, the possibility of skiing accompanied for those who want to discover the biodiversity of the large mountain pasture or reach the mountain huts. Furthermore, the Alpe Cimbrian ski area is very sensitive to the issue of accessibility, offering easy access even to guests with disabilities.

Food and local traditions

For lovers of good food and local traditions, the gastronomic choice is very rich, based on speck, cheese, polenta and typical sweets and honey from the Trentino mountains. In shelters and mountain huts, when the cold is felt, the heat of the burning fire and the scent of wood make the atmosphere very welcoming. It is nice to warm up with a good hot soup or a delicious hot chocolate before resuming the way back to the lake.

If there is the possibility, however, to stay overnight in one of the numerous accommodation facilities, it is pleasant to visit the historic center, with its typical shops and patisseries famous for the well-known Trentino apple dessert, the Strudel, or organize night excursions. accompanied by the full moon or a starry sky, on foot or with snowshoes.

Alpe Cimbra is all this and much more. It is a mountain to be discovered slowly, at your own pace and passions.

The magic of Lusern

There is a small village, Lusern, where history and traditions have been handed down and jealously guarded to the present day, a place where the traditional Cimbrian language is still spoken. For lovers of snowshoes and trekking on the snow, enchanting paths will lead you into a dream landscape, as the names themselves suggest. The path of the imagination, the path of the bear and the path “From Stories to History” are some of the paths that will lead you to discover the mountain.

All that remains is to wait for the New Year to get off to a great start and return to experience the mountains in winter.
